That is awesome! I dont have much time to write today especially since
it is Christmas night, but i did get a calling card and will be calling
in the morning to see how things are going with yall! I hope that you
had a wonderful christmas today which was very bright and sunny haha NO
snow before i leave! Today we got the chance to hear from elder Bednar
and it was a FANTASTIC talk! Talk about wow. It was very point blank and
touched very deep on things. I think everyone should want to be a
better person after hearing it. Anyways, I hope that you have a great
time in Cedar City and have a safe drive and good time with the family.
Send my love for the last day here in the CCM! Havent even started
packing so i should probably do that.. Thank you for the presents, and
thank you for the card. I would like to send something when i get to
Mexico to everyone. We will see how soon that will be.

I sent the stuff last saturday so you should be getting it soon. sorry it was soo late but last P Day we got a surprise that we were traveling to Boise for our Visas so it took a bit. But Pleeeeease send a picture of my ring whether by email or in the mail. I do have a small dictionary and i believe it will work. We havent got travel plans yet but hopefully soon. And no we are not going to be able to call home for Christmas, but probably in the airport. On my money, i have like quite a bit of money... around 180 dollars haha. You will have to hurry and send the stuff out so i can get it by before friday. hope it doesnt take too long. Its a small list. hahahhahhahahahahahahahahhahah

you can find. they have one here that is pretty good and i would get it
but maybe you could find one better. the one here is an oxford picture
dictonary and pretty much its a picture book with everything labeled in
spanish and english so you can hagve an idea what your looking for! Love

Yeah that would be best.. i really hate that they only give us this much time cause we literally have over 5 hours of free time at least on p days after laundry and doing all we need to do. I will just wait til i get the letter and answer you back. By the way you can tell Amy that my temple time is at 8:45 on mondays. I love yall and cant believe its already been 3 weeks! crazy stuff!

I really dont have much time but i will get some stamps here from the store so i can write back and not have to rush! its crap we get only 30 mins to email back since that allows for only 3 or so to answer. So i just wanted to say im good and that i cant believe its already 2 weeks into this. Colbie i havent seen since the first couple days that we were here but see will everyday and night haha! ITs quite fun bein next door. The chance were slim when you consider the 2500 missionaries here. This is just a small email but i will send a real letter in the next couple days. Hilarious that Jeff was not sure about her and now it has come to this with them! Dad... haha you would wreck my car when i left! Hope your at least ok and dont have to go to no chiropractor or nothing. I want to say to be on the lookout for any Southern Belles and if you are unsure, just ask them and if they are. tell them to write me hahaha! P Days are nice. I have had a lot of free time to doing whatever today. mostly study since i want to learn so bad. I did get the letter from Dear Elder with grandma and grandpa and kenny and nancy and you guys. Tell jeff to quit Coke if he didnt get that job.

seems that they are starting missionary week a little late this year?
But man im suffering here with all the problems we have had with moving
and the offices and all that good stuff and feeling like we have barely
any food. It was a pretty stressful week. I have come to realize that my
companion is about as opposite as i am in about just about everything.
This companionship just didnt happen by luck of the draw, that is for
sure but i will learn from it what im supposed to. We did end up
baptizing that lady this last week which was the highlight and she has a
good testimony to go along with her. The only thing that really
reeeeeeeeeeallly worries me with her along with the other one we
baptized and a myraid of others is that most cant read it seems. THey
need to be able to read but there has been quite a few that cant. So i
need to figure out some type of plan for the entire mission i believe.
This will happen more then once.
As i said we moved to another place which is about 5 times better than the other one besides it bleeds us dry a little more with the rent each month. Actually has rooms and feels warmer and just everythng is better! The thing that i struggled with the most is that im such about get things done that i know are important but my companion would put it off, put it off and then we would be late or have to cancel something or like today! Im writting you on a day that is not my pday again but i will develop those lovely Christlike Characteristics and go to the Lord to help me. Today is the first new day of transfers so i have officially completed my first transfer in the field! I really have learned alot and with how much time remains i cant wait to see how much more comes saying that this was definitely the most challenging time in the mission thusfar!
Tami really be a missionary and go to the temple this week everyday like you said you would like to. Try and be like a missionary and only cook in the house this week without going out to eat to make it more real. Maybe do a random act of kindness with big boy for missionary work and also you can have it be where you and dad are companions so him to without the tv and all that jazz and listen to church music and just see what the difference is. Make goals and report in pray each day and measure your progress. Then you will be able to really see what missionary week does for you. I hope things workout with your troubles amongst your yw. Something to learn form this :] Challenges and trials come to test our faith and also to progress and learn something new. Im really learning this right now and especially service and charity and not losing my pacience, but bearing the burdens... With Christ!
As for the package its all good. I can ask the missionaries in my district or what not and also i will get back to you on that next week but i believe if you do airmail it comes alot faster. so that would be smart to do. As for the money.. were you able to get some in my account or what is the status with that? Because in real i need to buy some more or i will start losing weight haha.
Finally that seemed to go down hahaha! It was like a guessing game of when she would get engaged. They have some good time together dating so that is a good thing. To kind of make sure and not rush. Annalee needs to keep heart and Know that she was saved from more heartache for something better! I like the scripture in proverbs 3 about putting your trust in the Lord and he will guide our paths instead of relying on our own understanding. This is something all of us can learn in one point or another but this is actually the favorite scripture of the prophet i learned in the mtc, says something to be true i would guess ahhh!
I promise with all the affections of my heart that when i get home i will go absolutely wild with acclimating back to the american ways of food!! There is no variety here even though it is good for the most part it just cant defeat the taste of home. But i wouldnt mind Betos when i got back since that is even different and really good. I will reassure yall that i shouldnt have anything to worry about. Getting robbed is the least of my worries in the moment. Im starting to question if this place is as dangerous as i have heard from my companion but i dont want to invite anything to happen to affirm his sayings so i will just agree with it hahaha. Give everyone a big wave and for the family and the cousins and all them, give them a big hug:]
Hola Big Papa! how was your stay up in the evergreens! Oh wait.. wrong part of the state haha! The family playin well in life now? Hows the plans with Jeff and his woman going? He tying the Knot any time soon? But my area is not gettng closed down?? i dont remember saying anything about that. Its perfectly fine. They might have to do that with some areas temporarily here since there is like 17 elders in the US that havent got there visas for here yet and should have arrived yesterday haha. All welll! But also my camera is fine and takes pictures i just dont know how i will send them back to yall. So i need to figure that out. Just want to say that your not to old still dad and you can follow your dreams and really find out your potenticial in this life along with find any healing that you may need from anything of your past experiences. The Blessings are sweet with the Lord and like described in the Vision of lehi with the Tree of Life. The fruit is the most sweet and desirable of all other fruit. We can really experience this and our knowledge can expand like none other to open doors for us and help us progress towards perfection. That was the mission of the Savior. Allow us to become clean, perfect, with a fulness of joy peace and rest from the things that try to hold us back now. But i hope you can find out what is best for you right now with your study of the scriptures and i talked to tami about this missionary work and maybe you could use this time to like i told her with 0 tv and her like a companion so that means with her all the time. Then see what you can get in terms of revelation and answers to your questions in the scriptures and prayer. But i love you and keep on working towards your goals and i know that you can achieve the physique you want haha:] Hasta proximo Lunes! Les amo

Dad i think it would be good if you did have access to my bank account if you dont but i dont know how to change it if you dont right now. But i have some money in my wallet that i exchanged for pesos this week and the rate is about 12.50 to 1 in the difference. Quite about haha. I stress about how much some things are but really they are quite about cheaper here its only that they give us soo little to live on. But me and my companion are startin to improve. We want success and i stopped waiting back to have him make the decisions in the group and teach me as my trainer. Me have some good things in store for us this coming week i would say. PRetty much a guarantee that we will have a baptism with one lady. She is super cool and makes some meeeean food haha! I really dont know what we are going to do about my camera but i want to go to the ruins sites one of these pdays first and get pictures along with the central to buy a suit for my birthday present that is only 1000 pesos for a Giorgio Armani brand suit. Practically a steal and want to send it home and have it be my suit when i get back. But this last week all that really happened was we worked to plan an activity on Plan of Salvation for the members to bring there none member friends to get nuevos but it was botched and we realized we really need to work on strengthenin this ward and also bringing back the maaaany less actives that there is.
I think that this place is about to close but i will wait until it does haha. Have fun up in washington dad and remember to we strong with the temptation that comes with being on vacation. For everything you eat just add a count for pushups or minutes to run or something. Tami should now that i will write every week unless something terrible goes wrong which would probably be that we just dont have a computadora. Sounds like Colbe´s area is more dangerous than mine at this point even though i have had one guy that was in my distrist already get robbed twice at gun point! maybe i scare them off with my size haha. But in real,, send the package as soon as possible since im a little scared about how things will work after the end of next transfer next tuesday. I believe it takes around 5 days to get here from there so yeah. I did get a hamburger fix today though at burger king so that really helped haha. The people here just love there mexican food too much! Tortillas tortillas and MORE TORTILLAS!!! every meal. But im excited for the progress that is being made and i can really see it being promising with the language. I really work alot with it when there is free time. Once i can intrepret what is being said with pretty much everyone. My language should explode. No Tener miedo! Seguir Adelante! El Señor es de mi lado. I think that last sentence is correct spanish haha. The grammar is still a little weird haha. Take CAre family and enjoy the snow! ohhhh wait.... YOU CANT! hahaha i guess you will have to enjoy the frost and not having to worry about shoveling the driveway. SEe yall in 21 months!

THE LORD NEEDS MISSIONARIES
FIRST PRESIDENCY MESSAGE

Last October in general conference I called for more missionaries. Every worthy, able young man should prepare to serve a mission. Such service is a priesthood duty-an obligation the Lord expects of us who have been given so very much. Young men, I admonish you to prepare for service as a missionary. Keep yourselves clean and pure and worthy to represent the Lord. Maintain your health and strength . Study the scriptures. Where such is available, participate in seminary and institute. Familiarize yourself with the missionary handbook Preach My Gospel.
Sisters, while you do not have the same priesthood responsibility as do young men to serve as full-time missionaries, you also make a valuable contribution as missionaries, and we welcome your service.
Remember that this is the Lord's work, and when you are on the Lord's errand, we are entitled to the Lord's help. The Lord will shape the back to bear the burden placed upon it.

I had the opportunity to speak in church this last Sunday with another missionary mother and 3 graduating senior young men who are getting ready to serve missions. I used this part of the Prophet's message to start my talk and since the young men that spoke before me did such a beautiful jobs in their messages, I did not want to take away from anything they had said so I bore my testimony and shared a few things about Josh and his experience so far on his mission. Josh's Dad and I feel so blessed to have a faithful, strong, loving, serving, compassionate, spiritually minded son. He is so very dedicated to the Lord's work and is doing all that he can to draw closer to the Savior. We love him so much as does the whole family.

We did not receive this letter til the day after P-day and we were a little nervous, I can't believe how much we count on hearing from Josh every Mon. So happy we did not have to sweat it out for an entire week, I think I may have done somthing stupid...LIKE CALL HIS MISSION PRESIDENT...I need to learn to trust that he is safe always :)
First of all i think that maybe a 1000 pesos would do fine haha i dont need 1800! The problem is that i dont know that you have access to my account since i changed it to a checking account before i left and i dont have your names on it i think but not sure. My spanish is improving still have i know that i havent received the gift of tongues yet. It probably has to do with me worrying about it soo much and what i dont know instead of that of which i know. The hardest by far is when conversations go to things that arent gospel related since there is a myraid of things that i dont know outside gospel topics! I want to make this companionship all i can and just start serving. I notice that our work has slowed down and it has to do with us not working together how we should. Entonces, this is a buen de focus this week. For pdays i feel like there is alot of time wasting cause we dont do what we should and that is why im doing laundry and internet today which is not my pday. My companion is always worried about the other companship and being with them but not doing the tasks we should so we talked about stuff like that today. Yesterday i went to a dinosaur museum with a member and her daughter with the other elders in our ward and it was quite hilarious in all hahaha! To get in you had to bring 8 empty pop bottles for each person. We were literally in and out in 5 mins! I managed to get one picture inside of it and this was before i realized that you had to pay 50 pesos for pictures so i got away with that haha. I have honestly thought about that at times because as i learn about the Gospel and everything i see how big everything we do is. This time is appointed to decide our eternity after. Everything counts! This determines how happy we will be. We only need to trust the Lord knows us waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then ourselves and allow him to show us what he desires to have for us. As it says in Mosiah.. God only wants from us that we obey His commandments. THis opens the door for absolutely everything. In D&C 130 it talks about that every good thing comes in our obedience so that is the reason why. God cant bless us against our desires and actions. Its IMpossible!
Thank you dad, i know that i need to look to the Lord with patience in my trials and also i need to take action and demonstrate faith without fear. As for baptisms they fell threw for this last week because of difficulties with her family. She does have a testimony and know its true the problem is her family are stout Catholics and have threatened to move out and leave her to herself to support herself if she joins. It is pretty messed up but a big problem. We are going to talk to her again sometime this week. Its tricky though since even if she is home. We go and her family says she is not cause they dont want us to talk to her. I honestly feel that she will be baptized.. That night that we were supposed to baptize her and her son and then broke the news.. I dont think i have cried like that in awhile. Everyone needs this and i have strong desires for her family to be touched by the spirit. IT would be a ton of baptisms in that family! With other investigators we have right now its overcoming the couples that need marriage or separation. We have 3 couples with this so that is something we will work on this week.
I got a few photos this week but i want to get more.. Im not sure how im going to get them there though. I was thinking that maybe in awhile send it home and have you copy them off then erase the whole memory card but i think there is a better way. haha yeah yall dont even know! Im not surprised he hasnt told you. The newspapers arent edited here and pretty much everyday they have dead people in all its graphicness on the front page! I definitely avoid looking when im conscience. But That quote is very true. THis isnt just the people we baptize. THis is also their lineage after that are born in the gospel along with everyone else that they affect afterwards. ANyways i do have the address for the offices to send a package but apparently they are changing how things work after the next transfer in 2 weeks so you would need to get it out soon. I only crave for some good sour candy and some chocolate as well like kisses with almonds. Your smart and now what i like haha. Along with some kraft mac and cheese but not too much. Dont send some huge package and if you cant get the money in my account and still want to send it. You really have to hide it well just in case. But you really dont have to send money! my card does work here so i would try to get in my account if you can. Then i will leave you to send whatever else if you think i would like it but dont send higiene since they have everything here and its super cheap and im still great with everything! I really appreciate it. I love getting letters and being able to talk and here what is going on. Oh and by the way find stickers to put on the package like the Virgin Mary and Jesus. THey pretty much worship Virgin Mary here which is really strange and shows the power of Satan. the Address...

Im not surprised he hasnt told you. The newspapers arent edited here and pretty much everyday they have dead people in all its graphicness on the front page! I definitely avoid looking when im conscience. But That quote is very true. THis isnt just the people we baptize. THis is also their lineage after that are born in the gospel along with everyone else that they affect afterwards. ANyways i do have the address for the offices to send a package but apparently they are changing how things work after the next transfer in 2 weeks so you would need to get it out soon. I only crave for some good sour candy and some chocolate as well like kisses with almonds. Your smart and now what i like haha. Along with some kraft mac and cheese but not too much. Dont send some huge package and if you cant get the money in my account and still want to send it. You really have to hide it well just in case. But you really dont have to send money! my card does work here so i would try to get in my account if you can. Then i will leave you to send whatever else if you think i would like it but dont send higiene since they have everything here and its super cheap and im still great with everything! I really appreciate it. I love getting letters and being able to talk and here what is going on. Oh and by the way find stickers to put on the package like the Virgin Mary and Jesus. 2nd week in Mexico
Everything this week is a little tougher! im getting humbled more and more realizing that there is no way in heck i will be able to do this on my own. I need to completely rely on the gifts of the spirit with all that i do in this work. Im been thinking about the best ways to overcome these challenges now that im facing and i keep thinking about do what Christ did since it was his work and the phrase from when President Hinckley served his mission and was dicouraged. ` Forget about yourself and go to work` So things i dont have total control over but i can just do my best and the Lord will do the rest. but i actually havent had any baptisms yet. Only baptisms dates and we hope to have 4 this weekend. Im pretty sure with at least 2 of them but who knows with the others. That kinda stinks i didnt get the chance to be a part of that special moment with Breanna. I hope that she always cherishs that moment. I love her lots! Grandma and grandpa thanks for the messages! i will be sure to send a better email a little later due to time, but im in a really poor area right now. I wish i could send pictures now to show you what its like but actually you will see some english here, which is a miracle! Im holding on to my sanity right now haha no not really. The language is different with the accent and how fast they talk. But its starting to slow down as i learn more. THe real problem is i feel a barrier with how i would like to teach and express my thoughts. but the best i can do right now i jumbled spanish. as for elder knudsen.. i do not know who he is. THere were about 2500 elders in the mtc and alot of us had different schedules so i didnt really get to meet tons. Sorry this keyboard is really terrible so my typing is a little iffy.
i JUST want to close with some events that happened. we went to a walmart that was actually a really walmart and it was wonderful! I also saw a black person here before i saw another white person here which i can understand since i hear this isnt a good area for white people at all and the fact that im preaching the gospel is a reason im safe right now for the most part hahahah thought you might like that bit of info. I had BK and it was like a party in my mouth to have american food, an actual hamburger! the drivin there is like childs play compared to here. Tami would lose 8 of her 9 lives in one taxi ride here haha. Sometimes if a little afraid for my life since lines dont exist on the road either does speed limit which gives you a clue how it is since EVERY street has speed bumps every so 100 yards haha. the food finally got to me here... do i need to say more haha! havent seen any types of crimes or what not yet but who knows in the future. Well thats about it for that.
Im glad that you are doing well dad and choosing to makes those decisions for you in your life. who knows! maybe you will be able to dunk it when i get back haha! play a little one on one. things will start going on the up for me. Its all how i perceive things and through the decisions i make. I think i might have a native for at least 3 quarters my mission since i guess its safer or something. He is about to my shoulder though and native of peru. He is talented with the guitar and piano and was in a band and also played almost pro soccer. He has been in the mission since may. HE is a cool guy and is really smart and knows his stuff with the gospel. He doesnt know hardly any english so we are working on the barrier that is still there. BUt anyways this is all the time i have right now. i need to get back out there. I hope that all continues to go well for the family there! I love yall and pray for you. And i will say that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can come to understand how important really every single thing we do is and how incredible that act ones. Even the prophets have said that it is soo incredible that its improbably that the human mind could grasp its significance. Entonces, this is the ultimate expression of love. without out it. absolutely anything we did would be all for not. everything in life is centered on the atonement. EVERYTHING! Bye bye my friends and family. take care of yourselves.

Just a note from Josh's parents
Our son has been gone for 2 months and 3 weeks and what an experience it has been for just this short time. It has been so exciting watching Josh mature and grow spiritually. He is taking this experience very seriously and with 100 % commitment. He has told us that he does not want to waste one second of his time will he is on his mission and that he can not wait to do all that he can to love, serve and share his testimony with the precious people of Mexico. We could not be more pleased with his devotion and love of what he has been called to do.We love you so much Josh and are so thankful that YOU are OUR SON.
1st letter from Mexico after being there for one week.
Well the time here in Mexico has been rough and good at the same time this first week. The good is that we have 5 scheduled baptisms already for the next couple weeks. The bad is that the spanish here is quite different from the one i learned in the MTC! The accent is hard to understand, especially when they talk so fast its like its all blended together! It has been quite the lonely week with the gap in communication. My companion is from Peru and doesnt know next to any English. He has been in the field only since may. He is hard working though and his last companion finished his mission so he really didnt work hard last transfer and has a fire in him to do some work. His name is Elder Harvey. Eventually here in the next little while i will start filling in the missing puzzle pieces that bridge things here.
As for the town, it is called Alegre, which is a suburb of Mexico City. There is supposedly a lot of people out of town this whole last week for vacation for the New year so i havent had my real taste of how things are here yet. Practically every single house and building is made of cement here and the places where most the people live are no bigger than are middle floor. The people are really nice and will give you practically give you anything. Its really humbling to know they will make these good meals for us and they have a family and probably live on like 200 pesos a week or something. I have no clue but one dollar here is almost 14 pesos. So its pretty nice when its soo cheap. They have Walmart here to a.k.a Bodega Aurrera haha. Im quite the attraction to since the people live up to my expectations which means tami would be consider tall here hahaha. I have already taken my entire head out in the apartment to since there is a low spot. Always have to watch the ground and your head. One for dog crap, and the other for ropes, bars, and what not. Anyways i dont have too much time left. I bared my testimony my first week in church and man did it draw quite the crowd hahaha. No one knew who this tall white gringo was haha. Im excited to do work here though and i know i will have some extreme success with the people once i can get the language down and with the things im learning in my studying. That book The Infinite Atonement is reeeeeaaally good by the way. Gives me chills when i read it. I cant wait to finish it. entonces. les amo y epero que todo esta bien en Los Estados. Hasta luego!
